Deborah Southwell is a long-time FEI member, having continuously served on the Dallas Board of Directors since she joined in 2011. She is a past Dallas President, serving on several committees and in officer leadership positions along the way. She has also served on the National FEI Board and several National committees including the annual Financial Leadership Summit planning committee.  Deborah is a recipient of FEI’s Distinguished Service Award.

Deborah has a deep legacy of servant leadership with FEI Dallas. Some consider her biggest claim to fame is our annual Wine Tasting Social, having been a founding committee member in 2011 and instrumental in shaping it over the years to the wonderful event it is today.

Deborah has not only been a mentor to many FEI members but, more importantly, she has been our advocate and friend.

Now Deborah needs us.

Deborah learned this past year that she is in kidney failure and requires dialysis.  She must have cash on hand for the transplant surgery and anti-rejection drugs when a kidney becomes available.

We ask our FEI friends today to keep Deborah in your thoughts and prayers, and to contribute to her GoFundMe as you are able:  https://gofund.me/58e07e01

With our sincere appreciation,

Deborah’s FEI Family

The Art of Hello® Professional Branding-Be Remembered in a Noisy World

As professionals we all deserve to be known for our achievements, and to be understood for our value proposition. The Art of Hello is a simple to employ technique for introducing yourself to people in a way that the listener understands the essence of your professional life. It is a powerful way to frame your professional image and for others to recognize you and act as your advocate. Once scripted and perfected, your Art of Hello introduction is a durable asset. It is useful for emerging professionals, for senior leaders, for business owners, for those seeking positions on boards, and job seekers. A well-conceived Art of Hello introduction is the old-fashioned elevator pitch polished up to a professional level with a memorable impact. It differentiates you from others. So simple to recognize when done well, and so hard to make one your own. Paula provides the background, tips and rules and a three-step method that results in you having a professional brand introduction of your own to use, that day. It’s called The Art of Hello.
Paula Calise, Co-Founder | Principal Recruiter, Linked Executive Search

Strategies to address the new SEC cyber disclosure rule (and how to do it!)

The SEC recently released a new cyber disclosure rule requiring public companies to disclose information about their cybersecurity governance practices as well as impacts associated with material cyber incidents. While they include information on what is required to be disclosed, they don’t address how organizations might design their processes and controls to accurately address those disclosure requirements. One approach may be to utilize the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) cybersecurity risk management framework.
